Tanya Arvan, M.D., Internal Medicine and Bariatric (Obesity) Medicine

I was born in a family of physicians in St. Petersburg, Russia, where I graduated from medical school in 1984.

After coming to the United States in 1989, I completed my residency training in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.

I have been practicing medicine in the South Bay since 1996 as a primary doctor, a hospitalist and an urgent care physician.

In 2007, I joined South Bay Family Medical Group, one of the most prestigious medical groups in the South Bay. Today, I practice all aspects of primary care from adolescent to geriatrics with a special interest in obesity and women's health issues.

I am very proud to be a third generation physician and continue my family's tradition of caring and dedication to my patients. South Bay truly became my community, I meet my patients everywhere and it makes me very happy. I am truly honored that even some doctors in the South Bay Area have chosen me to be their family physician.

I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Bariatric Medicine (Obesity and associated conditions) . I believe that obesity is a serious chronic disease and I offer the advances of modern science as well the understanding and compassion to help my patients to lose weight and stay healthy.

In my free time, I am a mother of two sons and the caring daughter of my elderly parents.

I enjoy reading, visiting the art museums of Europe, viewing American classic movies, or simply walking on the beach.
